ULSTER COUNTY CLERK CELEBRATES 340TH ANNIVERSARY OF ULSTER COUNTY
Kingston, NY – Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack invites the public for a celebration of Ulster County’s 340th birthday being held on Wednesday, November 1 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the lobby of the Ulster County Office Building at 244 Fair Street in Kingston.
Founded on November 1, 1683, Ulster County was one of the original twelve counties in the province of New York. Staff from the Ulster County Clerk’s Archives division will have special artifacts on display and will be available to discuss local history questions and talk about resources and research tools the County Clerk’s Office offers those looking to learn more about our rich history. Join us for a special birthday cake, which will be served at noon during the celebration.
In recognition of this important decennial, Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack is additionally pleased to announce that the earliest Dutch-language records in the County’s care are newly digitized and will be going live online through the Ulster County Archives’ website this month. Each digitized page will be displayed alongside an English-language transcription to increase accessibility for scholars, genealogists, and the curious public. All interested in learning more about accessing and using this resource are encouraged to join the celebration on November 1st or email the Archives anytime at archives[at]co.ulster.ny[dot]us.
