Ulster County Clerk’s Office Announces Wiltwyck Quilters Guild at the Matthewis Persen House Museum
Kingston, NY – Acting Ulster County Clerk Taylor Bruck is pleased to announce that on Saturday, September 7th the Wiltwyck Quilters Guild will present a craft demonstration and display at the Matthewis Persen House located at 74 John Street in uptown Kingston, at the corner of John and Crown Streets. The house will be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
The Wiltwyck Quilters Guild is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the preservation of the tradition and techniques of quilt making. The Guild fosters awareness in the history and artistry of quilting through demonstrations, innovation in technique, and celebration of the social aspects of this time-honored tradition.
“The Wiltwyck Quilters guild generously makes time to join us annually at the Persen House, where their display complements both the history we teach in the museum as well as the amazing artisan offerings at the Farmer’s Market next door,” stated Acting County Clerk Taylor Bruck. “I encourage everyone to stop in, chat, and see samples of this beautiful and historic craft. Members of the Wiltwyck Quilters Guild are keeping alive a time-honored tradition, and we are pleased to partner with them in their efforts to educate the public about the complexities and artistry of their work.”
