Ulster County Clerk’s Office Announces World War II V-J Day Presentation at Matthewis Persen House Museum

Kingston, NY – Acting Ulster County Clerk Taylor Bruck is pleased to welcome Hank Yost, historical reenactor, to the Matthewis Persen House Museum on Saturday, August 31st for a special presentation.  The museum is conveniently located at 74 John Street in uptown Kingston, at the corner of John and Crown Streets. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

On Saturday, August 31st, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Hank Yost will be giving an exclusive V-J Day presentation, delving into the significance of Victory over Japan Day and the events that led to the end of World War II. This event will offer insights into circumstances behind the historic announcement of Japan's unconditional surrender by President Harry S. Truman on August 14, 1945, and its worldwide celebratory response. Mr. Yost will also bring objects and uniform elements to illustrate the nature of the life of enlisted men serving the United States in the Pacific Theater. Engaging discussions will take place throughout the day, and everyone is welcome to participate.

“Hank Yost brings history to life, and we are excited to welcome him back to the Persen House for his second presentation of the season,” expressed Acting County Clerk Taylor Bruck. “Hank has spent years studying these topics for the sole purpose of helping the public to engage with their history and to broaden their understanding of some of the most pivotal events in American History.”
