New Women’s History Month Exhibit Opens at Ulster County Office Building

Kingston, NY – The Ulster County Clerk's Office, in partnership with the Ulster County Board of Elections and League of Women Voters of the Mid-Hudson Region, is honored to present a special exhibit of materials in celebration of Women's History Month 2026 on the second floor of the Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, in the Nina A. Postupack Gallery.

This year’s theme, presented as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary commemorations, examines the incomplete revolution of Women's Suffrage, a struggle that led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment over a century after the events of the American Revolution. The exhibit features materials recently donated to the County Clerk’s Archives by the Board of Elections and the League of Women Voters of the Mid-Hudson Region. Materials displayed include such fascinating objects as the first published voter rolls in which women were listed, and the League’s scrapbooks showcasing their crucial organizing and advocacy efforts to protect the voting rights their predecessors struggled to secure in the constitution.

"This year's Women's History Month is a particularly important commemoration, as we mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution," said Ulster County Clerk Taylor Bruck. "I hope visitors to the gallery are reminded that the Revolution didn't immediately grant everyone access to the democratic process, and that the struggle to ensure women have the same opportunities, autonomy, and political agency as men is an ongoing struggle."

The exhibit is open to the public during regular business hours at the Ulster County Office Building. A gallery opening will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 2:00-4:00pm, and will feature remarks by Cindy Bell from the League of Women Voters of the Mid-Hudson Region, Ulster County Elections Commissioner Ashley Torres, and Ulster County Clerk Taylor Bruck.
