KINGSTON, NY — Acting Ulster County Clerk Taylor Bruck is proud to announce that Geoffrey Miller, long-serving County Historian and current Associate Historian, has been awarded the 2025 Individual Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). The award will be presented this September at the AASLH Annual Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Hall of Records Division maintains three separate record storage areas. These areas are the General Records Storage Area, Archival Vault and the Electronic/Microfilm Media Vault.
The vast interior of the General Records Storage Area houses the inactive records of the Ulster County Government. It has the capacity to store 38,644 cubic feet of records and provide storage, retrieval, timely destruction and other records management needs.
To qualify to be a notary you must be eighteen years old, a United States citizen, a resident of New York and have no prior felony convictions. The application packet is available in the Ulster County Clerk's Office. The packet includes; an application, a test study guide, a listing of exam dates and locations.
Upon passing the examination you will receive notification in the mail from the Department of State. Return the completed application and the $60.00 fee to the NYS Department of State. You will receive your notary ID card which will be valid for four years.

If you need an authentication of a notary public who is qualified in Ulster County, you must bring in the document with the original notary stamp and signature on it (copies cannot be authenticated). The fee for each authentication is $3.00 and should be made payable to the "Ulster County Clerk". If you are submitting the document by mail, send it to the Ulster County Clerk’s Office, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, NY 12401.
Merchants can fill out the Merchant Application Form available on our website or in hardcopy at the Clerk’s Office. If there is a particular merchant you would like to participate in this program, please feel free to bring them a copy of the application form or direct them to our website to fill one out.
Certificate of Disposition can be obtained from our office. A request form must be completed (Criminal Certificate of Disposition Request Form). The fee for a Certificate of Conviction is $5.00. You may send the request form into the Ulster County Clerk's Office with the required fee. Processing time is approximately 7 to 10 days.
