Q: What is the fee for recording a deed?

A: The fee for a deed is $5.00 per page plus $45.00 for recording. New York State Transfer Tax is due at that rate of $4.00 per $1,000.00 of the cash consideration or fraction thereof. Q: How long does the Naturalization ceremony take?

A: Approximately two hours from the arrival time specified on the documents you received from U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services.  You will be required to meet with the Examiners prior to the start of the actual ceremony.  Once the ceremony begins, it lasts approximately one hour depending on the number of new citizens being naturalized.

Q: Can I bring guests to attend the ceremony?

A: Yes. Family, friends and community members are encouraged to attend.

Q: I am attending a Naturalization Ceremony in Kingston. Where can I park?

A: There are several parking options in uptown Kingston:  Courthouse parking lot, 285 Wall Street; Ulster County Office Building parking lot, corner of Main and Fair Streets (paid parking); Metered on-street parking throughout uptown Kingston; Metered municipal parking lots on North Front Street; Kingston Plaza parking lot, 151 Plaza Road.

Q: How do I get a notary authenticated and then an apostille?

A: If you need an authentication of a notary public who is qualified in Ulster County, you must bring in the document with the original notary stamp and signature on it (copies cannot be authenticated). The fee for each authentication is $3.00 and should be made payable to the "Ulster County Clerk".  If you are submitting the document by mail, send it to the Ulster County Clerk’s Office, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, NY  12401.  If, in addition to the County Clerk's authentication, you need an apostille, you must contact the Department of State for information. The Department of State is located at 41 State Street, Albany, NY 12231 and can be reached by telephone at (518)474-4770. In addition, the Department of State has a New York City office located at 123 William Street, 19th Floor and can be reached by telephone at (212)417-5747 or go to their website https://www.dos.ny.gov/licensing/apostille.html.  

Q: I haven't received my notary renewal card from state, can I still provide services?
