ULSTER COUNTY CLERK INVITES COMMUNITY TO COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS AND INFORMATION

Kingston, NY – The Ulster County Department of Motor Vehicles and the nonprofit organization Donate Life New York State are teaming up to raise awareness of the lifesaving impact made by organ, eye and tissue donors. On Friday, April 14, Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack will be hosting an informational table at the Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, to encourage the public to enroll in the New York State Donate Life Registry.

Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack Announces Civil War Era Concert “Songs of the Irish Brigade” at the Matthewis Persen House Museum

Kingston, NY - Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack is pleased to announce that on Saturday, June 10, the Ulster County Civil War Roundtable presents “Songs of the Irish Brigade,” a concert by The Veterans in a New Field, at the Matthewis Persen House.  The historic house is located at 74 John Street in uptown Kingston, at the corner of John and Crown Streets. Admission is free, and the event is open to all. 

6/15 Sojourner Truth Original Documents at the Ulster County Courthouse

Decades before she took her fabled name, famed abolitionist and women's rights activist Sojourner Truth was born into slavery here in Ulster County under the name Isabella.  It was as Isabella that the young Truth took action to secure the return of her 5-year son, Peter, who had been illegally sold to in plantation in Alabama.  With the help of local attorneys, Isabella filed a Habeas Corpus Petition in the Ulster County Courthouse in March of 1828.  And it was this Isabella that prevailed on that Petition for her son’s freedom, marking the first ti
